Walk and Talk.
Walking and Talking Down the Halbeath Road is a walking group aimed at improving both your physical and mental health. This project in partnership with the Pars Foundation and Dunfermline Athletic is ongoing and it has reached its four-year anniversary.
The aims of the group are to break the cycle of loneliness and isolation. When improving your mental health there four key points to this and our group meets every one.
Connect.
When we connect with other people, good relationships are important for your mental wellbeing. They can: Help you to build a sense of belonging and self-worth! Give you an opportunity to share positive experiences. Provide emotional support and allow you to support others.
Be physically active.
Being active is not only great for your physical health and fitness. Evidence also shows it can also improve your mental wellbeing by: Helping you to set goals or challenges and achieve them. Causing chemical changes in your brain which can help to positively change your mood.
Learn new skills.
Research shows that learning new skills can also improve your mental wellbeing by: Boosting self-confidence and helping you to build a sense of purpose. Give to others! It could be small acts of kindness towards other people, or larger ones like volunteering in your local community.
Pay attention to the present moment.
Paying more attention to the present moment can improve your mental wellbeing.
Reduced Stress: Focusing on the present helps you break free from overthinking the past or worrying about the future, both of which can lead to stress and anxiety.
Improved Relationships: Being present enables you to actively listen and engage with others, fostering deeper and more meaningful connections.
It is a very welcoming group that is non-judgemental, and inclusive to our local community. It is open to all; you do not need to support the Pars to take part. Dogs are welcome as long as their owners behave! We meet every Friday morning at 10:00am at various locations in Dunfermline and South West Fife.
Keep an eye out on our social media pages to see where our walks are taking place each week!
